Committees of the Board of Directors
The Windham Endowment is governed by a Board of Directors which meets
three times per year to oversee the work of the Endowment at a very high level. The
day-to-day operations and work of the Endowment is managed by the
Executive Committee which also oversees the work of other appointed
Committees. Most of these Committees are permanent, but some are created
to fill a temporary need such as to oversee a particular project.
At least one member of a Committee must be a member of the Board of
Directors but other Committee members may come from the community
at-large unless noted otherwise. If you are interested in serving on one
of these Committees, please contact a member of the Board of Directors
or the Chair of the Committee which interests you.
-
The primary function of the Executive Committee is to direct day-to-day
operations of the Endowment and exercise the powers of the Board of
Directors between regularly scheduled Board meetings or when it is not
practical or feasible for the Board to meet. (Consists of Board members
only, including at least the President, Vice President, Secretary, and
Treasurer.)
-
This Committee assists the Board in its oversight of the management of
the organization's financial assets. Additionally, the Committee
develops the annual operating budget for approval by the Board,
regularly reviews financial results, works with the tax preparer on
financial reports needed for tax return filings, and presents tax
returns to the Board for their review.
-
This Committee monitors the Endowment's investments and provides the
Board with recommendations concerning investment guidelines, policies,
and specific short- and long-term investments.
-
This Committee is responsible for developing and implementing an
appropriate marketing strategy to raise public awareness of the
Endowment and its work. Management of annual events is directed by this
Committee through sub-committees created to develop and support specific
events.
-
This Committee develops and maintains the Endowment's digital presence and
investigates technology and software for potential use by the Endowment.
-
This committee was created to enhance the visibility and the scope of
the Endowment in the area of recreation. We hope to identify new
opportunities to expand recreation options within the community for
residents of all ages. Additionally, the committee will work with the
town and existing recreation groups to identify ways to diversify the
funding of recreation and to create funds for new recreation
alternatives.
-
This Committee explores and expands the Endowment’s connections with
environmental and conservation organizations and efforts in the town.
The Committee investigates and develops programs that will result in
creation of new funds and increase visibility of the Windham Endowment
within the environmental community at large.
-
This Committee was created to develop relationships with the corporate
community, business owners, and community leaders. Working together, the
Endowment hopes to identify new means of support both with corporate
fundraising activities and by strategically positioning the Endowment
for future growth. Additionally, the Committee will create a
comprehensive database of organizations with matching grant
opportunities, volunteer gifting programs, and other matching
opportunities.
-
This Committee researches, evaluates, and applies for grants available
to community foundations.
-
This Committee creates and manages scholarships and scholarship funds
held by the Endowment and searches for additional funds to increase the
number, size, and diversity of the scholarships offered through the
Endowment. It will publicize available scholarships and solicit
applications for them but will not be responsible for awarding
scholarships.
